Types of Drilling and Workover Rigs

Types of Drilling and Workover Rigs

The drilling process is not an easy process but it needs Need to-
advanced equipment Some oil wells up to thousands of feet under
.ground
oil wells need to rigs and each rig used for private job-

Types of Drilling and Workover Rigs
Land rigs-
Barge Rigs-
Tender Rigs-
Jack ups Rigs-
Platform Rigs-
Semi-Submersible Rigs-
Drill Ship-

Drill ship operates at water depths up to 12.000 ft-

jack up rigs operates at water depths up to 500 ft-

barge rigs operates at water depths up to 12.000 ft-

semi-submersible rigs operates at water depths up to 10.000 ft-

Land Rigs

Land Rigs

Land Rigs are drilling rig used to drill the oil and gas well on land
.....only such as  desert.Jungle

Offshore Rigs

Offshore Rigs are drilling rigs used in petroleum industry to drill
.....oil and gas well on sea ,Oceans, rivers

Offshore Rigs Includes barge rigs-tender rigs-jack up rigs-platform rigs-semi-submersible rigs-drill ship

Two Types Of Offshore Rigs

Floating rigs
  Semi-submersible
 Drill ships
Bottom-supported rigs
 There are three types
 Jack-ups
 Platform
Submersible

Jack-ups

A jack-ups drilling rig is used to drill single exploratory wells in waters with shallow deepth  from 50 to 350 feet deep

some jack-ups rigs can work in the water deepth 500 to 600 ft-

Advantage of jack-ups rigs

Advantage of mobility to new locations at any time*

The capability of skidding,or cantilevering the derrick structure*
away from the main vessel for workover capability

Disadvantage of jack-ups rigs

used only for shallow deapths*

Barge Rigs

Barge Rigs are floating offshore drilling vessels used only when
.drilling in a shallow water depth

Tender Rigs

Tender rigs are floating offshore drilling vessels such as barge rigs -

.Tender rigs work as support platforms for drilling rigs-

It was designed in order to work as living quarters power-
generation facilities and storage facilities

Semi-Submersible Rigs

Semi-Submersible Rigs are the floating marine drilling rigs with legs for buoyancy to float, and weight to keep the structure upright

and stable

have a lot of advantage because its Advantage of mobility to new-
locations at any time and work at deepest well than jack-ups rigs

Semi-submersible rigs operates at water depths up to 10.000 ft-
